Welcome to The Village

You are in the village square.
Learning Objectives

This learning package will help you to:

Introduction

Your group of three intrepid explorers has stumbled across a village in distress! The residents of Mandai Village have run into a village crisis, and need your help to get through the Dengue season. Talking to the mayor at the Town Hall, he tells you about the town’s many problems.

Your group is to split up and explore the village independently. You can use the navigational links inside the pink box at the bottom of each page.

There are six locations in village to explore except for the Town Hall (which is password protected), and each of the six locations has an activity for you to complete on the worksheets given to you. There are many interactive elements at each location. Explore clicking on underlined text, images and posed questions. Some locations will also provide links to the Internet for further exploration. As a guide, each location should take about five minutes.

Each worksheet has to be completed: Part A for those completing the task, and Part B for the other group members. For example, if you visited Rita's Poultry Farm, you will complete Part A of the corresponding worksheet. You will then explain to your fellow explorers what you have learnt at Rita's location so that they can then complete Part B of the same worksheet.

Once your group have completed exploring all six locations and have shared your learning with each other, you will have enough resources, together as a group, to solve the Final Problem of Rather Great Importance at the Town Hall. You will have to ask your teacher for the password to access the Town Hall and your teacher will also review your worksheets at this point in time. The password is 'townhall'.

Hints

If you are stuck at one location, move on to another location first. Sometimes, you will need to learn from your fellow explorers first before you can fully tackle the problem at your location.

While the exploration is done independently, you can and should still help one another whenever possible.
